Civil Engineering and Construction Engineering Technology
Scholarships
CIAP awards scholarships to exemplary students pursuing a
baccalaureate degree in the fields of civil engineering or
construction engineering technology with an interest in a
career in the construction industry. Prospective scholarship
applicants must be current sophomores and juniors at a
4-year institution, complete an online application form and
supply supporting materials, and participate in an interview
process with the CIAP Scholarship Committee. Students
selected as eligible for the scholarships will then be
required to work for a New Jersey contractor for 12 weeks
over the summer in order to receive their money. The
scholarship is in addition to any salary paid by the
employers. To assist in the process of getting an
internship, CIAP requires that the selected scholarship
applicants attend a career fair in January. Students will
have an opportunity to interview with some of the top firms
in the New Jersey construction industry.
If you are selected by the CIAP Scholarship Committee to
participate in the internship process you are eligible to
one of two Scholarship Awards level.

recommendations an overall award winner in the amount of
$5,000 could be awarded to the most exemplary student. Award
levels are determined by the Scholarship Committee and based
on the student’s grades, interest in the construction
industry, their completion of the12-week internship, a
letter from the student detailing their experience and a
letter from the employer with a review of the student’s
internship.
